In the water
Canoeing
On a lake, a basin, or a white-water course.
- 1Paddlers race in a canoe or a kayak.
- 2In a sprint, you stay in a lane on calm water.
- 3In slalom, you pass through gates on moving water.
- 4You must paddle the whole course.
Score. Sprint races use the clock. Slalom adds time for a missed gate.
Win. In a sprint, first across the line wins. In slalom, the fastest fair time wins.
In a kayak you sit low and use a paddle with two blades. In a canoe the paddle often has one blade.
